Jessica Whalen Films | Videography Reel

To be honest, over the past few years, I’ve struggled with my artistic identity.

Am I just a wedding videographer? If so, my style is so different than most of the popular videographers around the country-a lot of it because I’m a woman, the other part of it being I don’t care to follow trends.

Am I good enough to feel like a filmmaker or artist? Or am I just a videographer.

Am I an artist or is this all just business and content?

Where does my passion for building others up and helping them own and tell their own story fit in? What about my love for writing?

I don’t want to do straight forward, corporate commercial work, can I still be successful and provide my part for my family?

What do I even define as successful?

And then, I decided to cut a reel to try to capture all I love and want to do in one video. Because the truth is, I’m a fully dimensional person. I’m all things at all time.

I’m a wedding videographer. And a storyteller who uses whatever medium necessary to do so. I’m a champion of people. A filmmaker. An artist. An empathetic listener. A fighter with a strong sense of justice and a deep, deep love for all people. I’m a woman looking at a world through an intuitive, intimate lens. I am trusted by those who allow me to really see them.

What an honor it is to see those who trust me in their happiest, proudest, bravest, hardest, and most honest moments. And what it is to be a woman, capturing it all.
