What does a doctor 's visit have to do with storytelling?

"I see you, I hear you, and I can make you feel better".

These words had me crying in the exam room at my new doctor's office earlier this year. I had spent years knocking down doors feeling broken and begging for someone to listen to me and help me. The thing that finally brought hope in? I found someone who had a story like mine who had used it as fuel to become an expert who could help people like her-like us.

And that? That is the power of story. That's why I've been preaching about it since before it was a trendy part of marketing jargon and why I'll be going on about it until I'm 100 years old.

Because YOU have a story that someone has been begging to hear. YOU have turned your stories in to expertise and have exactly what someone has been desperately searching for. And imagine what will happen if you stay in the overwhelm of not knowing where to start? What a disservice to the world it will be if you stay small and hidden.

I'm so sorry you've felt like you don't have something to offer or that you can't show up in a way that feels good to you. But just know: I see you, I hear you, and I'm for you. I've fought tooth and nail to learn how to show up even when you feel like you're not good enough to, and I'm ready to empower you with the strategy to show up, bravery to be seen, messaging to see your goals become reality, and most of importantly? Deep, deep knowledge that you're worthy of it all.
